The app links to Instagram, which is being called the 'Twitter killer', as it is also a text-based communication app. Users can log into the thread using their Instagram account. Users who follow them on Instagram can also follow them on Thread.
The Threads app can be downloaded for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store in over 100 countries. People can publish thread posts of up to 500 characters.
